Hello everyone!

Happy Wednesday :)

Day 10: West Kyoto

Day 10 of the Japan Trip - we went to the west side of Kyoto, Arashiyama and Kinkakuji temple.

Last year I went to Arashiyama by bus, but this time we used a train. I hadn’t known until this time, but there was this local train called “Randen”. Personally I would recommend that you take this one, because it’s easier and more comfortable.

The first place we visited was Tenryuji temple. We bought tickets that include admissions to the building and the garden. It was really relaxing to slowly walk around the garden but the view from the building was wonderful. (Japanese gardens are imitations of this world - plants, gravel, and rocks representing green nature, the sea, and mountains (or islands) on the earth.) It was the hottest season of the year, so the view was all green and bright, but I was thinking that it would show us very different expressions in autumn, colouring the sight with a calm yet vivid palate of orange, red, and yellow.

Just after the exit, there’s the famous bamboo forest. It was already full of tourists. The lights coming through the trees were stunning! There are usually so many tourists that you cannot take photos without tourists somewhere in the frame :D

Day 10: Arashiyama Bamboo Forest

Apparently people often visit Arashiyama and Kinkakuji temple as a set, there were direct busses available. Tickets to the temple were printed on Japanese papers and looked so cool, You can keep them as a souvenir, like memory from the trip :) Just after the entrance there’s a photo spot where you can see the temple and a beautiful pond . This place was also packed with tourists. After that we walked up a slope at the back. There’s this tea party place where you can have traditional Japanese tea and sweets. Whether you’re a first timer or not it is very easy to try it out!

Day 10: Kinkakuji Tea Party

The stairs going down to the exit reminded me of my junior high school trip in Autumn. During the season, leaves from the trees on both sides fall down on the stairs and they turn into a golden carpet!

Wondering where I went next?

Find it out!

続く!

To be continued!
