Day 14: Kumamoto

みなさん、 こんにちは！

Hello everyone!

日本旅行の14日目は熊本へ移動の日でした。

On the day 14 of our Japan Trip we moved from Kyoto to Kumamoto.

なかなか日本に帰る機会が少ないので、毎回帰国する時は故郷である熊本には必ず帰ります。伊丹空港から出て、熊本に着いたのは夕方頃。

As I cannot go back to Japan so often, I always visit my hometown, Kumamoto, every time I have a chance. We took off at Osaka Itami airport and landed in Kumamoto airport in the evening.

熊本空港からの市内への一本道、第二空港線をタクシーで行くと見慣れた風景が次々と目に入ってきて、ああ、帰ってきたんだなと改めて思いました。

As we went on the road that connects the airport to the city centre, familiar sceneries caught my eyes one after another, which made me feel, “ah I’m finally home”.

熊本に22年住んでいたものの一回も泊まった事がなかったホテル日航。今回はそこで二泊しました。到着後、母との待ち合わせ時間までに時間があったので上通りへ（下通りより個人的に好き）。平日の夜だったので人が少なく、いつもより静かな通りは落ち着きました。行きつけだった長崎書店へ寄って本を見ているとあっという間に待ち合わせの時間になっていました。

Though I had lived there for 22 years, I had never stayed at Hotel Nikko, one of the most famous hotels in the city. So luckily this time, I had a chance to stay there for 2 nights. After arrival, we had a bit of time until the time my mum and we were supposed to meet so my partner and I walked around the Kamitori arcade (personally prefer this to the Shimotori one). It was quite quiet and calm since it was the middle of the week and there were much less people there. I stopped by a bookshop called Nagasaki Shoten that I used to go often and was just browsing books. Time passed quickly - it was nearly the time already.

母と合流したら、みんなで飲もうということで銀座通りのオーデンへ。相変わらずお客さんでいっぱいの店内は飲み会の会社員や大学生で賑わっていました。ここでいつも頼むのはアイスバイン。これが柔らかくてビールにもあってとても美味しい。スペインの家族お得意のジョークでみんなでゲラゲラ笑いながら、すごく楽しい晩ごはん&飲みでした。

We met up with my mum and headed to Oden (local German style “beer restaurant”) in Ginza street to drink (obviously). As usual, the place was packed with people having “Nomi Kai” (small drinking party). The dish I usually order is Eisbein - super soft that goes well with beer! Laughing a lot with Spanish family’s jokes, everyone had a really fun night.

次の日は自然を満喫しに高千穂峡、阿蘇へ！
