No. 2: Full Moon

地中海沿いの地域の気候は一年中とてもマイルド。夏は特に好きです。じめじめした日本の夏とは対照的で、とてもカラッとしていて、気持ちいい。

The Mediterranean climate is mild throughout the year - but summer is my favourite season here. Unlike the Japanese one, summer here is dry and it feels really good.

先日、私のパートナー（以下アルパカ）のママが突然私に言いました。

「金曜日、夜に海岸沿いを歩いて、もう行けないというところまで行って、道の終わりにある海の家でキンキンに冷えたビールを買って飲もう。ボカディージョ（バゲットのサンドイッチ）を持っていこう。」

ナイトピクニック。なんだそれ、最高。もうアイデアが良すぎる・・・

金曜日。仕事も終わり、いざナイトピクニックへ。あたりは日が落ちてきて同時に空気が変わっていくのがわかる。ビーチ沿いのレストランのテラス席にはお客さんがいっぱい入っていて賑わってる。楽しそうな笑い声と、食器が当たる音、カモメの声が聞こえてくるし、海の風が頬を撫でて気持ちいい。

ずーっと海沿いに続く道を歩きました。マスクが邪魔だったけど、まあ仕方ない。目的地のチリンギート（海の家）に着く頃には、いい具合に汗をかいてました。早速ビールを買って、砂浜にタオルを敷いて、ボカディージョを用意して、乾杯！最高だ〜

食べ終わった頃、月が出てきたと思ったら、それはそれはまんまるい満月。こんなに大きくて明るい月を見たのは生まれてはじめてで、これをしっかり目に焼き付けようとじっと眺めていました。海面が照らされて、揺れていて、神秘的で。それはもう今さっき見ていたのとは違う世界でした。

月が上がるにつれてだんだんと潮が満ちてきて、気付くと波打ち際がすぐそこまで来ている。そろそろ帰ろうか、と後片付けをして、海岸沿いの来た道を戻りました。

家まで戻る一直線の道を歩く間、ずっと波の音がしていて、とても穏やかだったので誰がいびきをかいてぐっすり寝ているように聞こえるな、と思ったのでした。

The other day, my partner Alpaca's mum told me: Let's go for a walk along the seaside, until the end of the road where a beach house is, and get a cold beer there. We can bring some baguette sandwiches.

I mean, night picnic - who doesn't like the idea?

Friday. as soon as I finished working we headed off. During the sunset, I felt the atmosphere of the beachside changing. The terraces of restaurants were filled with customers - joyful laughs, dishes clattering, seagulls crying. The sea breeze was stroking my cheeks as I walked forward.

We kept walking the road along the sea. The face mask was a bit annoying but well it couldn't be helped. By the time we got to the destination, we had worked up a good sweat - got a beer, spread out a big towel on the sand, prepared to eat, and Salud!

Around the time we finished eating, we saw the moon coming up. Very round. I had never seen this big and bright moon before. I was just standing still staring at it so I could remember this moment forever. The water surface was glistering and waving - it was so beautiful that it felt surreal.

As the moon went up in the sky, the tide was coming in, and I found the edge of the water came up very close to us. It was already time to go home - we packed up everything and went back the same way we came.

While we were going back on the straight road along the sea, I was hearing the sound of waves coming and going. It was so calm that it sounded like someone was sound asleep.
